I know, I know — we can’t wait for Fall to get here. What we really want is for the temperature to drop, but before you go and get your PSL at Starbucks and decorate your front porch with pumpkins, let’s talk accessories. Fall is such a great time to accessorize your wardrobe. Layering is a must and what better way to do it than with a felt hat or over-sized scarf? Unfortunately for me in Houston, I’ll have to keep these in the closet for a few months longer unless I want to die of heat exhaustion, but if you’re already experiencing cooler temps then this is where you need to be!
OK, first things first — the oh-so-versatile, over-sized scarf. Wrap it around your neck, drape it over your shoulders, or (I’ve done this before but if you’re not shy let the tatas fly) use it as a cover up while breastfeeding. I am loving a good plaid print for Fall right now.
Next up is the felt hat. I purchased my hat in Ecuador. I was on a family trip visiting relatives when we made our way to this famous marketplace in Otavalo. I found this hat that I probably paid $30 and it is just beautiful. A good hat will not only keep your noggin warm, but can really spruce up any outfit. Besides baseball caps, you don’t really see people wearing hats anymore so this look can be head-turning for sure!
My next look reminds me so much of the 30s and 40s when people would wear gloves to dinner or to a fancy night out. The look isn’t just for weddings and galas anymore. Long gloves can look so chic and are a great piece to have to keep warm. There’s not much of a threat for frostbite here but this look I’m really looking forward to sporting. The trend this season is long, near elbow reaching gloves. Now, good luck trying to text with these puppies on!
This one just never goes out of style — Leopard print! Get some leopard-print booties, belt, scarf — just don’t wear it all together, OK? We don’t need you looking like you just escaped a zoo. This print works well with a wide range of fall colors too — black, tan, burgundy, brown, burnt orange — ALL GOOD!
And last on my list is over-sized sunglasses. FINALLY! those small sunglasses are out. Maybe it’s because I have such a big face and I just couldn’t pull off those tiny, triangle sunglasses you’ve seen all over IG, but I could not come around to liking this trend. I know many of you may not like the bug-eyed look, but this trend can be a lifesaver, OK? Do you know how many times I’ve had to make a quick run to the store sans makeup? This hides EVERYTHING perfectly.I cannot wait to rock some of these trends this Fall. Who’s excited??!!?? If you decide to sport any of these looks, please send me pic! I would love to see them!
